Simon O’Hara was born March 25, 1953 to the late John D. Williams and Ozzie Mills in Henry County Alabama. On Sunday, February 22, 2026, at his residence in Clayton, Alabama, Simon transitioned to his eternal home.
Simon was educated in the Henry County School System. Afterwards he moved away seeking a better life for himself and his family.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Greater Sardis Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny McCray, where he remained an active member until his demise.
Simon was a loving and cheerful person. He would keep you laughing. If he could help you, he would. He loved traveling across country, and working on cars so much that he later went into the trucking business. His final job was working for the City of Clayton until his health could no longer permit it. Simon was known for being a harder worker that kept busy. Simon loved riding horses and anything to do with the great outdoors.
Simon leaves cherished memories to his devoted wife of over fifty years, Mable Gullette-O’Hara. They enjoyed spending time together and traveling. Left also to cherish his memories are his daughters, Theretha O’Hara, Donnella Griggs, Brittani O’Hara-Grant and Chassaddi Travis; His only son Greogry Morris and one God-Daughter Mattie Gilbert; His grandchildren, Onteyrio Griggs, Trishana Morris, Ontyneice Griggs, Christian O’Hara, Tristan Morris, Dontreves Grant Jr., Ashia Ramsey and Taniyah Panknone. Simon was blessed with one great grandson Nolan Richardson. His siblings, Rosie Bell (William) Russaw, Earnest James (Sallie) Williams, Henry Williams, Inita Stanford, Mary Ann (Joe) Spann, Jimmy (Barbara) O’Hara, Annie Williams, Paul (Sharon) Williams, Dorothy Mills, Rosie (Roosevelt) Lightner; Sisters-in-law Hattie Thomas, Janie (Robert) Glenn, Elizabeth (Jaimie) Miller, Patricia Gullette, Mary Ann Gullette, Gloria Gullette and Ruby Gullette; Brothers-in-law, Hosie (Margaret) and Patricia Mickens. God-Children, Marquez McCray, Davonte Sneed, Jemel Crawley, Rayande Clinton, Ta’janae Clinton, Xyaire Sneed, Gabrielle Lowe; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ozzie O’Hara (Jim Ross) and John D. Williams, Simon was preceded in death by his siblings, Tom O’Hara, Johnny Williams, Matthew Williams, Morris F. Williams, Daisy White, Willie D. Williams and Juanita Williams.
